Most of Sam’s cocktails have whimsical, themed names (“Lost Safari”, “Shrunken Zombie Head” – and my favorite, “Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Rum”), but don’t be fooled: these are solid drinks, prepped and served by capable bartenders.
Enter: “Shipwreck on the Rocks.”
The Shipwreck is “bourbon with freshly muddled lemon and mint with organic Agave nectar.” You can get it with a souvenir cup, and, as an added bonus – get it while seated inside (and with a straight-on view of the bar). Trust me.
I very much recommend this cocktail. You can really taste the bourbon, but the lemon and mint soften the “medicinal” edge sometimes found in bourbon drinks (like a poorly-made Manhattan). The agave sweetens the drink, but not too much. The sum is a delicious, drinkable, not-too-boozy cocktail with a reasonable punch.
If you plan on having more than two of these, consider getting a room at the hotel.
