So it turns out that Flo’s V8 Cafe makes a dang tasty Roast Beef & Cheddar sandwich.
My last visit to Flo’s was all about the Turkey Dip (which I loved); this time, I wanted to keep my streak going with the other hot-sandwich option at the restaurant.
The presentation of the Roast Beef and Cheddar isn’t as nice as the Turkey Dip (this one kinda slouches onto the plate, if you know what I mean), but the flavor elements are all in the right place. The bun is nice, soft and warm. The roast beef is cooked well (but not overcooked). The cheddar cheese is reminiscent of Cheese Whiz, but in the best possible way (suddenly, I was 12 again!). The cooked onions are great texture, but not too onion-y. And finally the horseradish, which is easy to overdo, was present, but not pushy.
It’s yummy and well-balanced, is what I’m saying.
Like the Turkey Dip, you get a pickle, and like the Turkey Dip, the pickle is quite satisfactory. The Roast Beef and Cheddar also comes with coleslaw, which was solid in its own right.
I recommend this dish. I prefer the Turkey Dip a tad more, but you won’t go wrong with this one.
