Alfresco Tasting Terrace is quickly becoming to one of my favorite park restaurants.
Richard and I popped in on a Saturday afternoon, looking to take a load off, enjoy a few calories, and recharge ourselves (as well as our phones). I’d had great experiences with the Flatbread Two Ways and Charcuterie and Cheese Board at Alfresco; we thought it might be fun to try the “Trio of Beef Tenderloin Sliders.”
The dish arrives. It consists of three sliders, served on a long, rectangular white plate. The sliders themselves are simple: chopped beef, a squirt of horseradish, and a small bit of green, served inside a toasted bun.
We each grab a slider, and give it a bite.
These are wonderful. The meat is tender and chopped up, which makes for easy eating. The bun is soft and a bit buttery, which adds some nice flavor and a deluxe texture. The horseradish is light, and not overdone. Everything balances; everything works. I’d originally asked for a side of ketchup with the sliders, assuming they might need a bit of help. Boy, was I wrong. These things are perfect as-is.
This is a serious winner. Richard described it as “one of the best things I’ve eaten in the park,” and I’m inclined to agree. This is a super-easy recommend – a standout, actually.
UPDATE: As of June 2017, this dish is no longer available.
