In addition to their (very good) lasagna, Wine Country Trattoria has a few small salads on the menu. They’re technically starters, but today we wanted them as accompaniments. Variety. A little something extra to go with our main dishes.
We picked the “Italian Insalata.”
This is a half-shell of iceberg lettuce, filled/topped with tomato, Kalamata olive, chopped cucumber, and the occasional pepperoncini. It’s got Parmesan on top, and is doused in a vinaigrette dressing. It’s a small portion. If you split it between two people, you each get two or three bites.
This is a tasty salad. The ingredients work super-well together. The flavor and texture are balanced. Everything is fresh. The cheese and dressing are both good. Every bite brings a wide variety of complementary flavor to your tastebuds.
The Italian Insalata is a nice, friendly blast of veg with a solid pop of flavor. Definitely recommended.
