Verdict? Not recommended

We’ve ordered our Signature Fried Biscuits at the Carthay Circle Restaurant, and Elaine is in the mood for soup. She looks at our choices, and notices the Summer Yellow Tomato “Sopa De Ajo” as a seasonal offering.

(Google Translate tells me that “Sopa De Ajo” means “Garlic Soup.”)

Let’s try it! It’s summer! Tomato and summer go well together! Garlic is awesome! This could be fantastic!

This is not fantastic.

The soup arrives, and it’s visibly oily. Like, not Exxon-Valdez-level oily, but we are both surprised. It’s not at all what we expected. We thought “yellow tomato soup.” This is more “yellowish oily liquid.”

We plunge in. The flavor is meh. Unmemorable. There are chunks of meat and vegetable, but nothing breaks out. There’s no dominant flavor. And everything is a bit too salty, to boot.

We expected something light, fun, and summery. We got a rather boring salty soup that doesn’t feel special. It’s filler. And pretty far from what we’d hoped for.

Not recommended.

UPDATE: As of June 2017, this dish is no longer available.
