I went for the Negroni.
This is my brother-in-law’s drink. He loves them. It’s his go-to, his regular. And as someone who enjoys his company, that means I’m often invited to sample Negronis that he finds particularly agreeable or tasty.
He would like the Carthay Negroni very much.
A good Negroni has a slight pucker factor when you drink it. The gin and the Campari come together and create this slight, sour undertow that’s modulated by the sweet vermouth. I love that part of the drink. Bad Negronis generally don’t have the pucker, or they have it in a really overpowering way.
The Carthay Negroni has excellent balance. It’s perfectly mixed. It’s the sort of thing you could drink all day, but with enough kick and flavor to remind you that it’s a no-fooling-around beverage. The Carthay bartenders know what they’re doing.
