If you’re a regular reader, you know that “commodities don’t count.” We don’t review stuff you can get outside the parks, and we don’t review garden-variety items (coffee, tea, hot chocolate) that we consider generic.
However, there is an exception: branded generics.
If Disney has a commodity product that they’ve given a special name or shout-out (for instance: “Ultimate Hot Cocoa“), we’ll try it. Branded stuff implies there’s something unique, different, or special about it. (And we’re all about finding the unique, different, or special.)
Which brings us to our current dish: Freshly Brewed Joffrey’s Coffee at Carnation Cafe.
Presentation-wise, it’s simple. Porcelain mug. Hot, black java. Cream in a carafe. A small assortment of sweeteners. If you’ve ever been to a greasy spoon for breakfast, you’ve seen this layout.
The coffee is surprisingly good. Flavor-wise, it’s a great balance: not too strong, not the weak brown stuff that’s served throughout the parks. I smiled every time the Cast Member swung by with a refill or top-up. As Special Agent Cooper would say: “a damn fine cup of coffee.”
