We’re in need of a snack, and have found our way to the Cozy Cone Motels in California Adventure. The Cones offer a wide selection of quick-service treats. We’re happy: this is gonna be fun.
I decide to try the Chicken Verde.
The Verde is a sibling of the Chili Cone Queso. It’s sold at the same Cozy Cone Motel (#3). Both are hot dishes, served in bread cone, and intended to be eaten with a spoon. I approach the counter, order, and am handed the goods.
The cone looks and smells good. It’s topped with finely grated Cotija cheese. I dip the spoon and go to work.
This is basically mild green salsa, served warm, with the occasional piece of shredded chicken. It’s got the consistency of a stew or thick soup. It’s a simple, but good dish. After my first bite, I found myself taking a second, and then a third.
It’s not perfect. The cheese on top is fairly low-grade (I guarantee you it came out of a can). Elaine found the Verde to be a tad on the salty side. It’s also a relatively small portion for the money. That said, we both agreed that it’s a solid, unique find. We’d absolutely eat it again.
One side note: the bread cone is decoration, not dish. We nibbled out of curiosity, and quickly stopped. Stick with the Verde itself.
