Verdict? Recommended

Turns out the Cove Bar has sliders.

Now, Disney also serves sliders at the Alfreso Tasting Terrace. We’ve had them; we loved them. (Those sliders aren’t just good, they’re standouts.) So if the Cove is offering a similar dish, we’re in. The compare-and-contrast makes it too tempting to pass up.

We order.

There are three small burgers, each with its its own flavor profile. They share the same bun, the same meat (tri-tip steak), and the same style of toothpick that holds the goods together. Other than that, each slider is its own thing.

Slider #1 is all fried onions and green chimichurri sauce.

Slider #2 is barbecue sauce, pineapple, and coleslaw.

Slider #3 is bacon, arugula, and aioli.

Up top: these are all good. And the dish as a whole is strong.

That said, there are clear winners. Slider #1 is the best of the bunch, hands down. The flavor profile of the meat, onions, and chimichurri sauce come together in precisely the right way. Slider #2 is the most ho-hum. The flavor profile is muted; it plays it safe. (You’ll forget you ate it mere seconds after you finish it.) Slider #3 is the most “burger-like” of the three; it looks, smells, and tastes like a high-quality, baby hamburger. We loved it.

In order: #1, #3, and #2.

But the whole thing? Recommended. This may not be a standout, but we’d gladly eat it again.
