It’s breakfast time, and I’m starving.
Rafa and I got to California Adventure right at rope drop for “Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission BREAKOUT!“. The park opened at 8 AM; the Guardians line was a solid hour. Now it’s half past nine, neither of us have eaten, and we’re starting to feel it. (I mean, we loved the ride, but a fella’s gotta eat.)
Breakfast options in DCA are somewhat limited, but Flo’s V8 Cafe is open for business. We head to Cars Land, step into the restaurant queue, and start looking at choices.
The “American Breakfast” – eggs, bacon, potatoes, a biscuit – looks perfect. There’s a good-looking photo on the menu. I love it. One, please.
The dish arrives on a white, oval plate. Everything’s there, but seems somewhat … reduced from the menu photo. The eggs aren’t as fluffy. The bacon has receded. The potatoes look … oily. I’m trying not to pre-judge, but this has a real, “these are not the droids you’re looking for” sensation attached to it.
No matter. I’m in dire need of calories. Let’s do this. I grab cutlery, find a table outside, and get to work.
This is very disappointing.
The eggs are super-bland. The hash is nothing special – a tad more flavor than the eggs, but that’s not saying much. The bacon is fine, but — it’s bacon. (Hard to screw up.) Interestingly, the biscuit winds up being the strongest item in the bunch. It’s good. But not good enough.
Rafa gave it a try. After a couple thoughtful bites, he set his fork down, and sighed. “It’s not bad,” he said, “just lame.”
He’s 100% right. Skip this.
