Rafa and I have been going all day at the parks. We’re each north of 15,000 steps. A little overcooked from the sun. And we’re feeling it. Fatigue is settling in.
Time for a cocktail.
I firmly believe the Carthay Circle Lounge is the best cocktail bar in California Adventure. They have a solid menu, bartenders that know what they’re doing, and a relaxed, private atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel a little luxe, a little premium.
The Carthay’s cocktail menu is broader and more refined than what you’ll find at other Disney restaurants. They have specialty beverages. Unique items.
The Brandy Alexander, for instance.
Which I promptly order.
The cocktail is gorgeous. It’s in a smaller, tidy glass. The liquid is purplish/brown, topped with white foam and a sprinkling of nutmeg. It’s served up. And chilled.
I take a sip.
Perfect refreshment after a hot day.
The Brandy Alexander is brandy (natch), and Creme de Caco. This gives is a delightfully boozy, Kahlua-esque flavor. It doesn’t have the harder edge of a straight-alcohol drink like the Carthay Martini; instead, it’s all chocolate notes and soft happiness on the tongue. Easy drinking. The foam and nutmeg add a bit here and there, but this cocktail lives on the merits of its raw ingredients.
This is relaxing, refreshing … and super easy to re-order.
