We flip open the menu, and start looking.
There’s an item called “Diligently Selected Cheeses.”
(I swear I am not making this up.)
This is the sort of name that raises more questions than it answers. For instance: just how diligently were these cheeses selected? Who did the selecting? And what does “diligence” mean when it comes to cheese, anyhow?
Our friendly Cast Member swings by, and we ask her about it. She assures us that the cheese is, in fact, very diligently selected. And also tasty.
We decide to trust her.
The dish arrives. It’s a normal-looking cheese plate, served on a grayish slab. There are six different cheeses, plus some warm nut-and-raisin bread, dried currants, and jelly. We are also handed a sheet of paper, explaining the type and style of each cheese.
We get to work.
This is an excellent dish for a group. Each cheese has a very distinct flavor/texture profile, so everyone found their groove pretty quickly. I don’t know how “diligently selected” these cheeses actually were, but they were all excellent in terms of quality. We loved it. And the bread, currants, and jelly were solid complements.
At the end of the day: this is a cheese plate with a slightly-pretentious name. But it’s a solid value, and really hit the spot for us. I’d gladly order it again. Recommended.
