Bryce, Sharon, Elaine and I are heading to the parks. We’re planning for a long day. But it’s lunchtime. And we want to get something tasty, to start us off right.
Turns out neither Bryce or Sharon have been to White Water Snacks. Which, of course, makes it the perfect place to eat.
We arrive at the Grand Californian, walk through a maze of twisty passages, all alike, and finally arrive at White Water. This prompts a handful of “oh, that’s where this is!”-type comments from each of them.
The menu board has changed a bit since our last visit, but the dish I’m after is a classic: the Grilled Chicken Sandwich (“…with lettuce, tomato and dressing”).
We order, pay, are handed a number, and find a table outside. About 5 minutes later, a Friendly Cast Member arrives and delivers our food.
My initial impression is positive, but the dish seems a tad … functional. The sandwich is plain – standard bun, standard condiments, served on a standard gray metal tray with a standard slip of wax paper. Two handfuls of standard fries are to the right.
I pick up the sandwich, and take a bite.
The ingredients may be standard, but the freshness and flavor of the grilled chicken patty makes the whole thing work spectacularly well. There’s a moistness to the chicken that the Smokejumpers burger lacked. The tomato, lettuce, and bun are all solid. It creates this happy, “wow, that’s surprisingly good!” sensation. Terrific.
The fries are fine.
The Grilled Chicken Burger is a great option for lunch at the parks. I endorse without hesitation.
