It’s been a while since we’ve been to Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta. Last trip, we tried some salad, some pizza, and some pasta, and the scorecard came back … mixed.
Feels like it’s time for a rematch.
I’m trying the Caesar Salad. Regular readers know that a Caesar at Disney can be a spotty proposition. Some restaurants nail them; others … not so much. I’m hopeful that Boardwalk’s offering will land in the “happy” part of the Caesar Salad Spectrum.
I step to the counter, order, and watch the Friendly Cast Member mix my dish in a large, high-sided metal bowl. She returns a few moments later with a flat red dish, covered in greens, and slides it across the counter.
I find a seat outside, and inspect my prize. It looks good. The presentation is simple, but everything’s here: lettuce, chunks of chicken, croutons, lots of parmesan. The salad looks well-dressed.
The fork comes out. Here we go.
I start with a few chunks of chicken. They’re just OK. They’re lightly grilled, and the flavor is incredibly mild. (They need salt, is what I’m saying.)
Next bite: salad. This is where things get rolling. The dressing is credible. Creamy. Some tanginess, but not too much. The lettuce is crisp. There’s parmesan everywhere, which adds this delightful pop of texture/flavor with every bite.
The croutons are surprisingly good. Herb-seasoned, but not too much. They’re reasonably fresh. (I hate stale croutons.)
I’m giving this a big ‘ol thumbs-up. If you’re in the mood for a Caesar, this is a great choice. The dressing’s just right, the parmesan and croutons are helping as much as they can, and the chicken, while not the star of the show, is OK in a supporting role. I’d definitely order this again.
