Plaza Inn has some good-looking desserts.
The menu calls them, “Delicious Assorted Desserts.” Three different cakes: carrot, red velvet, or chocolate. Each one comes pre-sliced, sitting on a small round plate in the cold case next to the salad station.
I went with the chocolate.
This is a crazy, crazy decadent dish. It’s three layers of fudgy chocolate, broken up by three layers of spongy chocolate cake. (There’s a drizzle of thick raspberry sauce on the plate, too, but it’s really just for show. This is a dish that’s all about the chocolate.)
The cake layers are wonderful, moist, and surprisingly light. The fudge is the counterpoint: heavy, near-solid strata of chocolatey goodness that provide ballast and heft. It’s a potent combination.
This is an easy, straight-up recommend. If you like chocolate, you’ll dig this. Give it a try.
