We’re curious what other wonders we might find on the menu.
We enter, let our eyes adjust to the indoor light, and stroll to the queue. The Horseshoe’s not that busy; we can take our time considering the options.
We land on the “House-Made Chocolate-Chunk Cookie Sundae.”
From the menu: “A warm, rich triple chocolate chunk cookie made with brown butter, topped with hand-scooped vanilla ice cream, and drizzled with caramel and chocolate sauce.”
We pay, and wander down to the end of the counter to wait for delivery.
It arrives. Jaws drop. It’s beautiful.
Yes, it’s a simple dish. Served in a round plastic bowl, it’s a big ‘ol cookie on the bottom, ice cream in the middle, sauces drizzled on top. It smells great. It’s one of those ice cream dishes that you just know is gonna be awesome. Because, well … ice cream.
Spoons come out, and we get to work.
This is spectacular. The vanilla ice cream has a nice, clean, strong flavor. The caramel and chocolate sauces are doing their jobs. And the cookie on the bottom – which has been warmed, by the way – is nothing but cookie-dough-y, chocolate-y goodness. There’s a lot, lot, lot of chocolate in this. And it’s most welcome.
We devoured this dish. It was a perfect, decadent treat for a warm day. It’s not flashy or overdone; it’s just exactly what it should be.
