When: March 27, 2018, 12 PM
It’s midday. Bryce, Sharon and I are feeling a bit naughty. Bryce wants a cocktail. And we’re lacking adult supervision.
We decide to pop over to Trader Sam’s. Because: Trader Sam’s. And it’s noon. None of us have been during daylight hours.
We’re seated immediately. Menus are handed around. Bryce and Sharon look for something with a sufficient kick to it. I turn my attention to the “no-booze brews” section.
I see the “Schweitzer Falls.”
For those that don’t know, “Schweitzer Falls” is a Jungle Cruise joke. And now I’m curious as to what they’ve done with its namesake drink.
The drink is the epitome of “vacation cocktail” – tall glass? Small paper umbrella? Large chunk of pineapple? Bendy straw? Yes, yes, yes and yes. Brilliant.
This is basically just … pineapple juice. It’s got a few other flavors here and there (the menu claims it has Sprite, for example) but this is basically a tall, cold glass of pineapple juice with a deligthful chunk of pineapple to go with it.
And you know what? It works. We’re sitting outside in a sunbeam. There’s tropical music being piped in. A slight breeze is going by. It feels fantastic: a touch luxurious, a touch decadent.
It’s hard to know how much of my happiness is the drink, and how much is the atmosphere. No matter. This is a fun option. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I’d drink it again.
